KM 1

The KM 1 variety of green gram is a popular export from India to various countries worldwide. It was released in 1978 and is the result of a cross between S.8 and PS 16. This variety matures in about 65-70 days, and the grain yield is approximately 708 kg/ha.

KM 2

The KM 2 variety of green gram was released in 1978. It has a rainfed grain yield of about 767 kg/ha. This variety is known for its tolerance to Yellow Mosaic Virus (YMV) and resistance to pod borers, making it a resilient and productive choice for cultivation.

PAIYUR1

The Paiyur1 variety of green gram was released in 1988, being a pure line selection from DPT 703. It takes about 85-90 days to mature. The grain yield of this variety is approximately 700 kg/ha. It exhibits a low incidence of Yellow Mosaic Virus (YMV) and is well-suited for rainfed regions in Dharmapuri, Madurai, Ramnad, Tirunelveli, and Periyar Districts.

VAMBAN 1

The Vamban 1 variety of green gram is a Hybrid derivative of (S.8 x PIMS 3). It was released in 1989 and matures in around 65-70 days. The grain yield of Vamban 1 is approximately 800 kg/ha. This variety is known for its tolerance to Yellow Mosaic Virus (YMV), making it a favorable choice for cultivation.

VBN (GG) 2

This variety of green gram is a result of crossing VGG 4 and MH 309. It was released in 2001 and matures in approximately 65-70 days. The rainfed grain yield for this variety is 750 kg/ha. The grains are shiny, and the leaves are lobed and resistant to Yellow Mosaic Virus (YMV).
